Created by Italian Carbon specialist and frame builder Andrea Saga, the superleggero cage weighs in at only 9,5 grams. A goal for Andrea was to come up with an incredibly lightweight and strong bottle cage so it could withstand long hours over rough roads and varied terrain. So, in his intimate studio at the base of the North Italian Dolomites Trentino, Andrea began testing. His work with carbon is traced to his frame building history, and this provides the backbone to his hollow wrap technique creating his handmade bottle cages.
Unlike most bidon cages the wrapped carbon is solid. Andrea has given each cage structural strength and durability while maintaining minimal weight.
The cage looks incredible on modern and traditional frames alike. and obviously, two is better than one.

Introducing the Basso Astra
Versatility and completeness
Underpinned by over 40 years of bike building and - rare at this price - manufacture that is 100% in-house made in Italy. The Astra frameset is constructed from 100% 3K Toray HM (Hi Modulus) carbon fibre. In line with its heritage, this model maintains its vocation for road cycling, but the attention to detail has made it lighter, more stable and more comfortable. It's light enough to push boundaries without pushing the carbon of the frame to the extreme.
The Astra also adopts Basso’s high-profile technological solutions.It borrows elements like the straight fork and rear triangle from the likes of the Diamante SV and operates in a similar level of reactive and responsive handling.
If both performance and aesthetics is important to you, Basso never fails to deliver on this point. You will love the fluid lines that follow the tubing angles, alongside the exceptional paintwork. The small details are what matters, such as the seatpost made to work in conjunction with the 3B Clamp System Gen 2 (pat). Thanks to this technology, the seatpost will be separated from the frame by a vibration-absorbing rubber leading to increased riding comfort.
Geometry
That means the bike is well suited for everyday riders wanting performance gains, but average flexibility, as opposed to professional riders who spend weekly training sessions building, targetted stability and strength.
Astra’s geometry harks to Basso heritage, derived from the steel models. It's a model that has gained improvements year after year. One preserved characteristic of the Astra is found in the racing DNA. This is a bike built for carving through the hills and roads, simultaneously blending a rider's desire for lightness, speed and pleasure.
