Classically refined and deemed the most ridden of the owners stable, this Zero SLR has found its home. Where is that? Sydney - a City who's busy streets are cruelly interrupted by short yet steep pitched hills and a surrounding landscape providing plenty of climbing. We say, if you don't like hills get an ebike or avoid riding Sydney. Or, you can invest in a ZeroSLR.
Here's a bike that either adds to a riders already impeccable training program, or will delight the lazy/busy/weekend rider who expects a bike to compensate for their lack of training.
The Wilier Zero SLR is a pure climbing sensation. Perhaps a breakaway from the Zero6 the 0SLR claims podium position as a a super lightweight frame. But separation begins when SLR taunts 6 with its bells and whistles; integrated cable routing and disc brakes.
Of course, with technical capabilities that make it sleek and aero comes a price. But unlike comparable brands that also compete at Pro Tour level, its a tag that won't hold surprises for the Wilier Loyalist.
A complete SLR will start no less than 12,000$ running Shimano Ultegra Di2 and a basic wheel set that leaves us wanting. We understand the consideration of budget but we cant help feel that a bike of this standard deserves the finest attentions regardless of where its ridden. That gives reason for our delight when we put together build ideas for this model.
Look at the details to discover this is neither an ordinary frame set nor an ordinary build. Each components is chosen over others due to quality and integrity. The brief was to keep the complete bike light, clean, and performance driven.
Openness and communication are paramount when it comes to any build. A clients needs must be clearly understood and honoured as much as the expectations of the builder be explained and fulfilled.
As far as our relation with the owner, the entire process aligned. A hiccup was barely a ripple even as our local Australian supplier struggled to provide the frame. Our close ties with Wilier meant we still received the frame in the size with that rich velvet red finish. The generosity, kindness and appreciation of the Wilier Family and Team make every 60 hour return annual trip to Italy worth it.
We could paste the riding advantages of the ZeroSLR straight from the dozens of glowing reviews by journalists. However, we may as well finish with a bang and use the original words of the owner, who's neither paid nor expected to give opinion or reason why this bike is so good.
