From Fit to Finish: Reviewing Enzo’s Titici Alfa Road Bike

Enzo’s Ultimate Italian Ride: A Dream Fulfilled with Titici

Meet Enzo Caputo — Potts Point local, owner of Vico’s Italian Pasta Bar, passionate cyclist, and proud new rider of the Titici Alfa custom carbon road bike. For Enzo, cycling isn’t just a sport. It’s a way to challenge himself, a counterbalance to the pressures of running a thriving restaurant, and a chance to stay connected to his Italian roots.

"Life isn’t easy lately with the new bar,

but I always make time for my Alfa."

This is the story of how a rider found the perfect bike — built from the ground up with precision fitting, custom geometry, Italian design, and the cutting-edge Campagnolo EPS 13-speed groupset — all made possible through the Chainsmith custom process.

First Impressions: Love at First Sight (and Sprint)

"The Titici Alfa caught my attention the moment I had a close look. The shape, the way it sits on the ground, and those stunning Italian finishes... I knew this was the bike I was looking for."

Enzo’s appreciation for craftsmanship runs deep. As someone who creates culinary experiences every day at Vico’s, it makes sense that he was drawn to a bike built with similar intent — precision, balance, and soul.

"I loved that this is a completely Italian branded bike, made by passionate people. And I could create a custom version, made just for me, at a very reasonable cost."

After just a few rides, he was hooked:

“It’s not just responsive — this thing it's an amazing machine! Whether it’s a coffee ride or a long day out, the Alfa minimises fatigue and maximises power. Try it to believe it.”

Campagnolo EPS 13-Speed: La Dolce Shift

One of the most exciting elements of Enzo’s build is the newly released Campagnolo Super Record EPS 13-speed groupset — a system that’s rarely seen in the wild, let alone custom fitted on a frame like this.

“What a lucky man I am — I got one of the first EPS 13s, right after it launched. People are always asking about it!”

“It looks beautiful, sharp but still elegant. The ergonomics are perfect. No more numb fingers or sore wrists. And the way it shifts... phenomenal. Smooth, precise, and that thumb shifter? So easy to reach. The extra buttons on the top levers are a brilliant touch for riding in the drops.”

Enzo's riding background as a prior owner of a Bianchi gives weight to his praise. He's not new to high-end components by Campagnolo — but this setup, he says, feels like the future of road performance.

From Pasta to Pedals: Making Time for the Ride

Enzo’s schedule is packed. Running Vico’s means long days and recently adding happy-hours, even longer nights. But the ride is non-negotiable.

“Life isn’t easy lately with the new bar, but I always make time for my Alfa. Whether it's a quick stress-relief loop or a Sunday endurance ride — or an early Chainsmith ride — it keeps me grounded.”

This isn’t just a bike that hangs on the wall (or shown at front-of-house, prime position at Vico's. It’s a machine built to be ridden — and it fits seamlessly into Enzo’s daily rhythm.

Built for the Challenge: Shop Rides, Training & Classics

On the road you’ll often spot Enzo at Chainsmith’s weekly shop rides, or out tackling Sydney’s toughest climbs in preparation for endurance events like the Bowral Classic and 3 Peaks Challenge.

"I had the chance to take my Alfa for hills training and longer group rides — the outcome is always the same: an outstanding machine that handles every ride purpose."

“There’s a connection to this machine — it makes each ride an adventure. I’d choose it over and over again. The comfort I get from the Alfa is rare. Plus… have you seen how beautiful it is?”

A Journey in Detail: From Fit to Finish

The creation of Enzo’s bike began where all Chainsmith builds begin — with a comprehensive IdMatch fitting and in-depth consultation. This wasn’t just a sizing session. It was a full performance analysis — measuring flexibility, posture, riding style and power delivery — to ensure every touch point of the Titici Alfa would be dialled in perfectly. From there, handlebar width and stem length, saddle setback, crank length were ordered accordingly.

The Colour of Home: Paintwork by Kingsspray

Next came the graphic and colour consultation. Working with legendary Italian painter Fabio of Kingsspray, the frame’s paint was designed and executed in Italy — down to the tiniest detail.

One of the most unforgettable elements of Enzo’s bike is its paint scheme — a striking combination of blue and white, symbolic of his hometown in Southern Italy and proudly shared by his favourite football team.

"The design had to be right. These colours mean something to me."

And getting it right didn’t happen overnight. In fact, Enzo unofficially won the “award” for most changes during the graphic and colour design process — a distinction we lovingly joke about at Chainsmith. But it also speaks volumes about his commitment to detail and the importance of connection between rider and bike.

Working alongside our long-time collaborator, Fabio of Kingsspray, every shade, stripe and graphic was fine-tuned to perfection. Fabio’s workshop in Italy became the canvas for Enzo’s vision — blending tradition, passion, and artistry.

“I knew what I wanted, and between Chainsmith and Fabio, we made it happen. That made the whole bike even more special.”

What’s Next: Italian Dreams & Sydney Loops

Back in Sydney, the frames arrival signalled the start of an assembly process akin to surgical precision within the Chainsmith workshop. With the new Campagnolo Super Record 2x13-speed, Campagnolo WTO Ultra wheels, and Enzo’s preferred components — all installed in-house by Chainsmith’s expert mechanics.

The final result? A one-of-a-kind build that’s as personal as it is performance-driven — a reminder that for us, custom means more than just fit and function. It means story, history, and pride in every detail.

“Everything about this build was special. You feel it in the ride. It’s an experience, not just a bike.”

When asked where he wants to take the bike next, Enzo doesn’t hesitate:

“One day I’d love to ride the Alfa in the Apennines or over the Passo dello Stelvio. But for now, I’m enjoying what Sydney offers — the Blue Mountains, Albion Pass, Wiseman’s Loop. Tiring, yes — but so rewarding.”

And if he can improve on last year’s times in future classics?

“That’s the plan. The Alfa gives me every reason to believe I’ll hit some new PBs this year.”

At Chainsmith, It’s More Than a Bike

Enzo’s story shows exactly what we believe: the best bike is the one that fits you — your body, your lifestyle, your ambition. It’s why we go further than just size charts and stock models. We help riders build machines that become part of who they are.
