Chainsmith IdMatch Bike Fit Lab · Sydney

Bike fitting begins with the rider.

Every rider brings a different body, riding history and objective.

Chainsmith combines IdMatch technology with experienced assessment and practical workshop knowledge to understand how you interact with the bicycle. Whether refining your current position or assessing a bicycle before purchase, the objective is the same: a position that can be understood, documented and applied with confidence.

Complete service

Fit-First Bike Selection

Assess your position before purchasing a bicycle · $660

Experience and assess the proposed riding position before you commit.

A bicycle may appear suitable on a geometry chart yet place the rider very differently once frame dimensions, front-end components, saddle position and individual proportions are considered.

We first establish a position informed by your body, movement, riding history and objectives. The IdMatch system is then configured to represent the bicycle you are considering, allowing you to experience and assess its proposed position.

Where useful, one alternative bicycle or configuration may also be simulated for comparison. The service can be used for a new, second-hand or online bicycle, whether purchased from Chainsmith or elsewhere.

The simulation assesses fit, geometry and proposed riding position. It does not reproduce differences in frame material, handling or ride character.

Your consultation includes

  • 3D body measurement and postural assessment
  • Dynamic biomechanical analysis
  • Establishment of ideal riding-position parameters
  • Simulation of your nominated bicycle
  • Dynamic assessment and refinement of the simulated position
  • Simulation of one alternative where appropriate
  • Saddle pressure mapping and dynamic saddle assessment
  • Shoe analysis and cleat adjustment
  • Frame-size and component guidance
  • Documentation of your final fit position
  • Post-purchase position verification

Focused service

Saddle Fit

Pressure mapping and dynamic testing · $200

Saddle discomfort is the most common issue riders report to us—but discomfort alone does not reveal which saddle will provide the right support.

Our Saddle Fit combines pressure mapping with dynamic testing on your bicycle. We assess how pressure is distributed, how stable you remain while pedalling and how different saddle shapes interact with your position.

The objective is not simply to recommend a popular saddle. It is to identify the characteristics most appropriate for you and allow you to experience the difference.

10-day Saddle Hire$110

Continue testing the recommended saddle during your normal outdoor riding.$70 is credited toward your saddle purchase.

Your saddle fit includes

  • Saddle pressure mapping and analysis
  • Dynamic testing on your bicycle
  • Testing across a considered range of saddle brands and models
  • Saddle installation
  • Equipment and bicycle-setup guidance where required
  • Option to continue testing through saddle hire

The outcome

Evidence-led saddle guidance supported by pressure data, observation and your experience on the bicycle.

Focused service

Cleat Fit and Adjustment

Your foot-to-pedal connection · $120

Cleat position influences how the foot is supported, how the knee tracks and how effectively the rider interacts with the bicycle.

We assess your shoes, feet and current cleat setup before testing the position dynamically on your bicycle.

Cleats are adjusted or installed during the appointment, with recommendations provided where another part of the bicycle setup may be contributing to discomfort or instability.

Your cleat fit includes

  • Shoe assessment
  • Foot assessment
  • Knee-tracking assessment
  • Cleat adjustment or installation
  • Dynamic testing on your bicycle
  • Recommendations where the wider bicycle setup requires attention

The outcome

A considered foot-to-pedal position, dynamically assessed as part of the rider’s wider interaction with the bicycle.

Why Chainsmith

Measurement is the beginning, not the conclusion.

The IdMatch system provides detailed measurement, dynamic analysis and bicycle simulation. Its value lies in how that information is interpreted and applied. Chainsmith combines the technology with experienced observation, practical mechanical knowledge, saddle pressure mapping and workshop support.

01 / OBSERVE

Understand the rider

We consider your body, movement, riding history, objectives and experience on the bicycle rather than treating measurements in isolation.

02 / INTERPRET

Apply experienced judgement

Technology supplies evidence. Experienced assessment determines which findings matter and how they should influence your position, equipment and recommendations.

03 / REFINE

Turn findings into action

With workshop support and appropriate fitting components available in-store, agreed changes can be applied where possible and the final position clearly documented.

Frequently asked questions

Choosing and preparing for your fit.
